ARTIST & NOMAD offers support to artisan communities around the world in an effort to help locally-led cooperatives and artisan businesses thrive. We believe partnerships should be led by the artisans, so we come alongside artisan leaders to support their dreams and visions to grow their business, preserve traditional crafts, and thrive through sustainable, direct trade opportunities.

In many communities, the main source of income and employment is through the artisan sector, so artisan-led and direct trade models can transform the future of whole communities and families. Sometimes there is a need for guidance in developing collections, entering the marketplace, branding, design, quality control, etc., in order to achieve these goals. Our ARTISAN FUND helps cover the cost to consult and support artisan leaders in these areas. We also will offer small grants that work as a catalyst to launch an artisan leader’s dream and vision to dismantle systems of injustice in the artisan sector by creating more equitable jobs and empowerment in their community. All ARTIST & NOMAD trips contribute a portion of the cost to this fund, but we need additional donations to enable us to say YES to current requests from artisan cooperatives in Morocco, India, and Kenya.
