Curated by Artist & Nomad in collaboration with the artisans of the Numedia Tabudrart in the High Atlas Mountains. Before the founding of the cooperative, the women used to work individually in their houses and made their own rugs which are rarely presented for sale. This made them think about setting up a cooperative that could allow them to work together and to exchange their experiences in the pursuit of valuing their products by sharing them with people all over the world. As the cooperative grew, other women joined and the cooperative hopes many more will join in the future.
This plush wool pile knot rug features a traditional diamond design in terracotta/blush. The color was achieved by using a natural dye method with local madder root. The rug is beautiful on both sides and can be used on the floor with either side. This rug is made from the wool of sheep that are raised in the region and are known for their thick, plush piles and intricate geometric patterns. The rug is hand knotted on a vertical loom. In the mountains, the pile side is used in winter and then it is flipped to the flat side for spring and summer. This design was created by the artisan and we love it and the natural dye accents.
Artisan Partner: The Anou, a direct trade partner committed to sustainability and transparency, ensuring the artisans set the prices and receive 100% of their asking price, removing the exploitation of traditional middlemen.
This rug is available made to order by the artisans. If you love this design and want to order it in a specific size or color, then please:
