This is one of our favorite traditional designs called a Zanafi flatweave. The artisans are located in the ancestral village where zanafis rugs were first made. n 2009, the women founded Association Timozonin which now provides meaningful income to over 20 women in the village. Over 50% of the women involved are single, widowed, or divorced, so their work in the association is their primary source of income.
We think this incredible traditional design looks fabulous on the floor, on the end of a bed, or hanging from the wall. It is made with sustainable, natural wool sourced locally in Morocco. This design highlights the incredible craftsmanship of Moroccan artisans with the intricate weaving details. Because of the dark wool color, this design is also suitable for high traffic areas if you choose to use it as a floor covering.
